FROM GATE MAN TO BEING AN EMPLOYEE OF THE SAME COMPANY.(Nigerian born, Noel Monday became a staff of a company he was once a gateman)

 How I was employed by my Boss.

The founder of Ganarious Palace Aisha Muhammad Gana, had a wonderful virtual interview with a young promising and ambitious man Noel Monday on the 27th of October, 2022.

"Your story is too good to be hidden. It has the power and ability to change the younger generation. It can be a source of inspiration and motivation, so permit me to put out to the world" said Aisha Gana.

1. Hello Noel! Can you tell us about yourself ( Education and Family Background)

ANS. My name is Noel Monday.I was born on the 28th of September 1993 into a family of four, to be precise the eldest son of the family. I am from Kaduna state in the southern region of kaduna (kagoro).

               I am the kind of person who is so determined and aspiring for greatness and I see education as the medium to that greatest place where I wanna be. I’m always quiet and that gentle type as people always say and I'm that indoor type. Why I so much appreciate being indoor is because it gives me the room to be creative. I so much enjoy drawing, Songwriting/singing and dancing as well as researching and exploring books.

EDUCATION.

After my secondary school I was opportune to go to Niger state College of Education in 2014, which is not up to a degree. And I remember it was a whole lot of struggle out there in the College. 

FAMILY BACKGROUND

I am not from  a wealthy family and we are not that poor to go a whole day without food. My mom is a petty trader and  my father is a farmer. 

My father was working in Kano state as company staff but due to the country's economy at that time a lot of companies were crashing down and as a result my dad was affected by redundancy and he had no choice but to relocate with the entire family to the Village. 

2. Tell us about your personal Struggle and life after the College?

ANS; After College it was the beginning of another struggle. I was willing to do any legal form of job, so without hesitation I started putting up calls to all my friends in Abuja and Lagos to help me secure a job out there. I waited and kept calling for over a year  but couldn’t get a call for a job.

            Finally  God answered my prayer. I got a call from a friend John. He told me he had a job for me. We were actually gonna work together as security operatives in the same place. I was Super excited, so my mother helped me put the money together. She actually borrowed 15,000 Naira from a Community fund. I got a 17,000 Naira job  in Abuja.

  When I started the Job I couldn't believe that it was more than a Residential security Job cos I have to sweep the compound, trim the flowers and even do laundry for 17,000 Naira. I have no choice but to keep doing it because that was the only available job for me. I started working but so many things in my mind thinking of how I could raise and pay the money my mum borrowed for me to travel. I couldn’t continue with the Job after one months because I got a call from a friend we met online who told me there’s a Job for me in Lagos and assured me the job is far better than what I’m currently doing. But when I got to Lagos it was a different case.

There was nothing like an available Job. I had to start searching for a job, a search which lasted for one month. I later got a Cleaning job of 19,000 naira per month. Anybody that stays in Victoria Island knows, that amount of money cannot sustain you for a whole month.

            

                          The worst part of it all is that I don't have a place to lay my head, I sleep outside and at times I can’t close my eyes because rain. My phone was stolen while i was sleeping at night, at times it’s get so cold out there  and brissy

My friend didn't tell me he has no place for me because he stayed in his Aunt's house, so of course I have to sleep outsid for a 4 months. I hide all this from my parents in order to make them stay out of worries of me.

After a while, my mum started asking about the money she borrowed for me to travel out to lagos. I have to cooked up some stories for her, because I wasn't earning as enough, and as expected. But I was also worried because the money was not hers, but was owned by community, and they asked for it.

Later, she said something that made me shed so i got no choice but to tell her the truth, i told her all i was going through she felt bad and was mad at me for not telling them all this, she told me to come back home but i told her “I came to lagos with nothing i shall never return home with nothing”

3. What was the hardest decision you’ve ever made? What happened and how did you handle it?

ANS: Ahmm the hardest decision Is never giving Up, despite all that I was passing through, you can imagine no roof over my head, sleepless nights when it rains, my body temperature was always high due to late night sleep and sleeping in such a place that is Open and exposed to mosquitoes, most times i manageably eat twice a day, hahaha garri don suffer.  and one thing about me is that I rather go the whole day hungry than to beg. Despite all of that, I decided not to give up. It was hard.

4. It gladdens us having this interaction with you. Your story is beautiful to be hidden, for it’s surely going to be an inspiration for this generation. Can you kindly narrate to us how you move from being a gate guard to an employee of that same company.?

ANS; Well, I will say it was God. Imagine being employed by an employer who knows your qualification doesn’t  worth the Job, and I can tell you still uptill now he never cares to collect my result.

The day I was employed all I could remember he said was, He admired my personality, he said I speak so well, he said has been observing me for a very long time and he would like me to work with him.

He asked if I have Computer knowledge, I said no, he immediately enrolled for a 4 Months computer class. He paid the fees, I was going for my Computer class at the same time he was still paying me. it’s has been God  all the way

6. they said every great man has an amazing woman by his side. Do you have any?

ANS; I’m sure the person that made that statement was not referring to a Nigerian women haha…….lols 

Anyway, to be honest with you aside from my mom there’s no one else, my mom has always been my best friend and she gave me the best advice in the World. She always says to me ”My son I give you my blessings anywhere you go, you shall excel ” There wasn’t any woman for me. 

7. Was there a time you thought of giving up because life seems tiring, and everything was not happening as you want or expected. What happened? How and what restored the strength  of not wanting to give up any more ?

ANS; Life was so tiring if I could remember i said to myself that all we see in the movie is fake but the thought of giving up is not in any close in mind. I always know the journey to greatness is always rough so keep pushing.

 Even if I am  tempted to give up I always do say this to myself, Noel remember where you came from! The other question is, and as the eldest son of the family. If I didn't do it, who else would? Those thoughts strengthen me.

Quitting is not my thing because I read a lot of motivational books and listen to motivational speakers a lot. One of my favourite motivational book titled “tough times never last but tough people do” by Robert H Schuller

When I think of those encouraging words  I read. I feel there’s always hope in the future. All I have to do is to keep the right behaviour.

8. What is the best ever decision you’ve ever made, and proud of ?

           ANS; I will frantically say my best decision is not giving up. To anyone reading this story, never give up, Keep the good behaviour, God is watching all your struggles wait till the special time to see what he has in store for you. Treat everyone with respect and you shall come up high and don’t forget honesty is the best policy.

 

9. Your accent is really attractive, that one will love to listen to you whenever you speaks. Do you live among the whites ?

ANS; haha….Ahmm I don’t live among white i just admire them when I hear them speak, then I said to myself I can do it as well.

I am always that kind of dude that whenever I see someone do something I find attractive,  I always challenge myself if someone can do this then I can do it too so that's just the spirit that gets me to this level. Some people think  i’ve gone to one of the most expensive schools in Nigeria not knowing it’s one of the normal public schools and i live in such a place that we do not speak english that much. So you can imagine. So i practice the whole thing alone 

Back in my secondary school days I was called (Bature) which means white man. while back in the college I was nicknamed after a presentation as (Black America) by my HOD that was a crazy day i can’t forget it. 

10. What is your greatest accomplishment so far?

ANS; My joy today is that I am able to give my Siblings the best an elder brother could offer. My immediate sister just graduated this year and the last born  just got admission to the University this year.

       They know very well that I don’t joke with anything that has to do Education. I'm striving to put them forward there after i will get myself enrolled as well.Aside that no yet accomplish that greatest thing.

        We are still on the hustle hoping for more blessings.

11. What has always been your weakness/strength?

My weakness is I put other people first at times I will have to displease myself but as times goes on  I learn I have to create boundaries

ahmmm..  My Strength I am adaptable and Flexible I am a very fast leaner

12. From the look of, and the conversation we have had, you seemed to be a kind of person that keep going no matter what. What is your greatest motivation/inspiration that pushes you to go higher?

You know, when I take a look at where I came from I realized God made me the eldest son of the family for a purpose. So the current situation as of those days was terrible I remember those days back in school I have to do minor jobs to buy handout and other things. What I went through energized me and pushed me to pursue greatness because I want to change my Family Narrative.

I listen to lots of  Motivational speech these are my favorite motivational speaker Tyler Perry, Joel Osteen, Steve Harvey and Eric Thomas Listening to this men makes me believe one day I will come up higher and for me to make  difference. I have tried some many things that no one in my lineage have did.

13. What would you want to achieve in life? Do you also dream of becoming rich in future?

My numfaer 1 dream is to be the boss of my own some day. I don't wanna be poor, like who the hell will like that. I Will like to see myself making impact in other people's life that's what my mama always wanted from Us I can't wait to get their I wanna be rich.

14. Is there a message you want to pass on to the youths, and younger generation?

To my fellow youth out there Believe in your self and always believe honesty is the best policy. God watches what you are passing through He does everything at the right time so never give Up keep pursuing your dreams with passion I know the people in power are making things more difficult  but never quit and above all *Never Forget to Pray.* never forget to try take off the fear Never put aside till tomorrow what is to be done today and is never too late.

15. What is your favourite food, color, mode of dressing, and hobby?

My favorite food is pounded Yam with Eggusi soup. My hobbies are dancing, Singing, making research, Drawing and writing songs as well. 

My best color is sky blue and pink I Like simple decent outfit

It can be printed on a car, mugs, T-shirts, face caps, moving bus, on books and lots more. Before I move on, I have a little story to tell, which shows that print marketing really works.

   One day, my mum was returning back home from a different state. Whilst the car she was in stuck in a traffic, she looked through the window and that was when she noticed a car close to the car she was in with a printed information. It's carries information about Herbal medicines and what it cures and does, plus some photos. 

She quickly brought out her phone and snapped the information printed on the car. So when she arrived home, she call my attention to the photo she snapped and asked me to copy and dial the company's contact number so that we can make some enquiries. I did, and that was how we have been constantly buying from them.

Now, imagine how far that car can go. Imagine how many people read what's printed on it as it move around all day.

- FLYER MARKETING.

 Flyer marketing is supposed to be under the print marketing. But, it's a strategy on its own. 

A flyer is a small paper containing all informations of a brand often use for Advertisement by business owners or organizations.

If you'd already have a brand, print out tons of flyers and distributes to;

~shops/malls

~Barbing shops(especially if your business is relatable to men)

~Air dropping wherever you can. Especially a busy road where people are always passing by. Drop them, some people will definitely squat and pick to read what's written on it. If they don't buy immediately, they might keep the flyer and contact you when the need arise.

- EVENT MARKETING.

It's high time we stop thinking that events are only for entertainment. No! Events are for everything, including marketing.

Event marketing should be included in your marketing plan, if you've not been doing it. This is how you should begin.

Attend various events when invited. Do not limit yourself to meeting with new people. 

Meet new people at every event. Smile at them, laugh and make a smart talk. Be friendly! Do not directly tell them about your business. You can do that strategically when the conversation is at the peak, and then you can pass on your Business card for them to connect with you.

This is how you continually boost and build your audience, which you'll later turn them into your customers.

-REFERRAL MARKETING.

Here, you'll spend a little bit. By the way, there's a saying that State that with money you get more money.

This is exactly how this strategy works. 

You meet people, and tell them to get or bring genuine customers ranging from 3-5. When they buy, then the person will be rewarded with a token.

Dear marker, 

Let go back and look at the old ways of marketing, and restrategise them. It works like magic. 

Remember if  you're into a business that's worth dealing with millions, no one will trust or handing over it to you online, especially now that scamming is becoming a thing. 

Focus offline, just as you giving much attention to online and digital marketing.

HOW A LADY REJECTED 10MILLION NAIRA OFFERED TO HER TO MODEL FOR A CLOTHING LINE.

 I choose not to cut my hair, and my hijab over 10Million naira.

It was the hardest decision I have ever made in my life. It really was tough and draining, especially at my age. But I am sure I will thank my self tomorrow for taking that decision.

My name is Nasreen Ahmad. I'm 26 years old, and was born into a family of four. My father is a teacher, While my mum is a small scale trader. Despite the profession of my dad, he always provides, and never jokes with his responsibilities.

I was born with unique eyes lens, which makes me different. During my primary and secondary school, my classmates made fun of my eyes. Some said it's scary when I looked at them, whiled some called me cat eyes. It really was tiring.

In my university days, people I'd come across are more matured and gentle. But, many atimes they do stared at me, which makes me feel UNCOMFORTABLE. That was the reason I started using sunglasses.

Amina was, and have always been my best friend. One day, we were in the masque after Jumma'at prayer. She stared at me for a few minutes, then she smiled and said "you really are BEAUTIFUL". One needs to stare at you for a longer time to know that you are an ART... Created differently.

I only smiled at her.

" oh common on, look at me Nasreen" you are an ART. Look, you should be proud and never be ashamed of how you are created. It's time you stop the fear, come out ant tell the world how amazing it is to be DIFFERENT, while others are thesame"

At that point, tears began to dropped down my chin. Her words got into my heart because no one has ever said that to me, not even my mum and siblings.

I nodded, and thanked her. I said to her it wouldn't be easy as she thought it would be.

She patted on my shoulder, you are an ART, she whispered.

Some weeks after we had had that conversation, one morning I was in my room reading when Amina came in. She hit me on my shoulder "get up! get up!" She said.

I raised my body from the bed as I looked at "what is it?" I asked.

"Come down from the bed" she said 

I did.

She picked up my hijab and wore it on me, and then she dragged me out of the room. I followed her without knowing where she was taking me to.

After some minutes, we arrived at one of the popular and luxurious photo studio in the town. 

"We are ready" she said as we entered the studio. 

I never knew Amina had booked the PHOTOGRAPHER for the entire day. She also hired a makeup artist for the photo shoot. 

I was amazed and emotional.

So after the make-up was done, Amina brought out the clothes I used. She dressed and styled me, and then the snapping began. She was there through out to tell me how to stand, how to sit with style and all of that.

Everything was perfect as if I was a MODEL.

A day after, the photos were ready, and was been sent to Amina.

Amina created an account on instagram with my name, and posted some of those photos.

Like a blink of an eye, tons of people followed, and found me amazing.

From the bio, she indicated that I was a MODEL. So within a short period of time, I had people showing interest that they want to work with me.

My parents supported, and that was how my modelling career started both in my country and other countries as well.

One day, I got a mail from a big and luxurious fashion brand in U.S. 

Myself and Amina were super excited. She kept shouting "Nasreen to the world!!"

Two days after I had agreed to work with them, they sent me a Photoshop of me, but with a different look. It really was me, but with low hair cut, and my hijab were taken off, plus almost the shoulder was naked. 

That's the looks we want for the shoots. They said.

I was down when I read that.

I shown my mum their last message, asking for her suggestions and she said the power to decide is in my hands.

I was worried still.

So I met with Amina, and she said close your eyes. 

I did.

She said now, what do you see?

I can't! I said. I want to protect my future.

Amina hugged me. That's good of you. I will always be your supporter in everything.

We got back to them saying I was not longer interested, because I can't takeoff my hijab, talk more of cutting down my hair.

It wasn't easy, but I am glad I made that decision.

Note: the sticker should carry your business name, what the what product is all about, and most importantly your informations to reach to you.

Now the procedures to make the product. (Instant meal)

1. Wash and dry the Soy beans and the wheat. Roast each one of them separately, and grind.

2. Roast (all) the nuts, peel and grind.

3. Sesame should be roasted and grind too.

4. Date should be dried extremely, and be grind to powder.

5. Dried plantain which is optional should be grinded too.

6. Tiger nut scan be washed, dried, and then be grinded too.

After they've been grinded to powder, mix up all together, grind again and again until there is no trace of large grains. Sieve after grinding them all together, measure and pour into the packaging nylon. Close the strip tightly and stick a sticker on it.

Snap, and post on your social media pages with attractive content. Do it every day, until it all got sold out. 

Now, in your contents, make sure you the buys, the nutritional value of your product, and what they should expect the product will do to their body. 

Tell them, if not all some of the keys ingredients being used.

Tell how they can go about preparing the meal. It can as well be written on the sticker.

HOW TO MARKET AND MAKE MORE SALES IN NIGERIA AND AROUND THE WORLD

How to meet your target audience/customers/consumers on social media.

Sales and marketing tips.

A lady asked about a particular strategy I'm using to market and sale my products. 

She said "despite that you are not consistent, I observe you always make fine sales"

Yes. She was right about my inconsistency. I know I lack that, but each time I make a product available, it always reach out to my target audience immediately.

I said to her "I actually can't say this is the particular strategy that I am getting right. But I believe my products are the ones speaking loud for me. They're the ones selling themselves.

I added that, there strategy you can use, and when used rightly, will fetch you sales. So she listen!

(1). As a business owner, or someone who is doing the production by herself, you should be able to know what PROBLEM your product is solving. I mean, what problem are you solving for people that may likely want to buy your product. If you're able to know this, then you'll definitely target the right customers/consumers.

Take for instance, you are making/producing Hair products that is meant to prevent hair fall. Then your consumers should be or are women/girls who are suffering from hair breakage.

How do you get them to know  that you have a SOLUTION for their problem?

 

It's simple. 

Create a great CONTENT on your page or blog site. Your content should be as if you're speaking to them directly what your product is capable of doing (solving). Speak to them in a way that if they don't buy your product, they'll feel they didn't do good to themselves, or even blame themselves for not buying.

Your content should be attention magnet, it should be craft with right #keywords, and #SEO. For instance, since you're producing and selling hair cream that prevent hair fall, there should be words like "HOW TO PREVENT..." "HOW TO STOP..." "HOW TO TREAT HAIR BREAKAGE" then you go on with explanation that would make them believe this is actually the right product for them...

Content with the right keywords are very very powerful, and has the potential of reaching out to people you do not even expect.

Have you ever noticed that there are products you'll search on Google, and some of the results that may pops up are products from Facebook? It's simple because the poster has used keywords people will likely search for, on Google. 

There is a power in using rights keywords and hashtags, if you don't know how to get the right SEO.

(2). Give a quality product. 

After you are able to convince them that your product is their problem solver, and they buy from you, if it works, it means they're going to keep coming back. If it doesn't. You've chase them away.

If it works, they refers, and keep talking about it.

If it doesn't, when your brand pops up, they'll say "oh this! They're liers, their products are fake" 

Pls avoid this👆🏼if you CAN. Satisfy their expectations.

(3). Trust.

Why should someone who have no idea who you are, where you live buy from you?

How do you build a trust between you and your buyer?

(I will want to hear this from you)

(4). Build your brand and the world will see it. Your brand is your identity, and when built, you have a higher chance of being discovered and recognised. 

For this to happen, you'll have to stay CONSISTENT. Consistency means you will show up every day, promote, post, focus and keep moving everyday until you stand out.

If consistency was a person, I will say it's Rukayya Aliyu. Dammit! I love and admire her consistency. 

(5). Make yourself accessible and easier for people to find, and connect with you. If you make it difficult for your buyers to connect with you,  you're simply telling them to move to another seller and buy from them.

(6). Your competitors!

As a business owner, appreciate your competitors. You know why?

Because they'll bring the BEST in you. If your competitors are doing greater than you, don't hate or envy them. Instead, be smart and outsmart them. Follow and watch them closely. Find out their weakness, strength, how they interact with their customers, how they do things. Learn and apply on what you've already know. 

Why I said earlier that your competitors brings out the Best in you, is because their success ginger you that you'll want to do more. 

(6). Interact and share (valuable) knowledge with your audience for more engagements. Everyday, whole of your timeline should not be about advertising your products. Educate and share insight once in awhile with your audience.

~ when you share something educative and meaningful that your audience will likely appreciate, they will LIKE, COMMENT, and even SHARE. When the post gets the above mentioned, then Facebook Algorithm learns that your audience and other people similar to your audience want to see more of what you are posting, this in turn will increase your organic exposure. 

Now, as someone who is into hair care products, once in a while share/post educative post about Hair. Share tips and ways to keep a healthy hair.

~ if you're into clothing, speak about styling, colour blocking, styles for every occasion, clothes that fits a particular body, accessories that goes with every clothe and lot more.

~ if you're into anything food, share healthy food plans/planning. Talk about foods, and their functions in the body. 

But then, you'll have to educate yourself first, before you can be educate your audience, so you don't feed them wrongly or with false information.

(7) Be kind to your customers. Without them, your business is nothing.

Love what you do, and stay committed to it.
