APPLY FOR THE AMEL INSTITUTE SUMMER 2026 COHORT

AMEL Institute Summer 2026 Cohort is Open for Applications

If you are a young leader in Africa or the Middle East who wants to make a real difference in your community, this opportunity was made for you.

The African Middle Eastern Leadership Project (AMEL) has announced that applications are now open for the AMEL Institute Summer 2026 programme — an online leadership training initiative designed to equip young changemakers with the skills to advance more inclusive, safe, and equitable societies across Africa and the Middle East.

Who Is This For?

The AMEL Institute offers free, interactive training for activists aged 18 to 35. It is designed for young people who are already taking action — or ready to start — in spaces like community advocacy, social innovation, civic engagement, and youth leadership.

The mission is to fill dangerous knowledge gaps and transfer know-how from experienced activists and experts to bold and visionary young leaders who are taking action to build more open, safe, and thriving societies.

Whether you are a grassroots organiser, a student passionate about human rights, or a youth leader looking to build stronger impact, the AMEL Institute was built with you in mind.

What Will You Gain?

This is not just another training. The programme is taught by experienced activists, seasoned practitioners, and select experts from renowned institutions such as Stanford and Harvard covering practical, real-world topics including:

-Human rights and gender inclusivity

-Nonviolent movement-building and peacebuilding

-Democracy and democratic development

-Activist safety and self-care, including online security and mental health

-Genocide prevention and Holocaust education

-How to communicate about your cause using modern media tools

-Equipped with these skills and strong networks of like-minded young leaders, AMEL trainees are able to step up their changemaking locally and nationally, while creating momentum regionally and globally to advance dignity and rights for all.

And yes — the programme is fully online and completely free for participants.

Why You Should Apply

Opportunities like this are rare. In 2026, AMEL is expanding the programme to reach 1,000 changemakers through multiple cohorts. That tells you how seriously they are investing in the next generation of African and Middle Eastern leaders.

Through training, mentoring, and advocacy, bold and creative young African and Middle Eastern activists — both those living in the global north and those throughout the MEA region — are empowered to step up their civil society activism, while at the same time building their skills and experience to ascend to top leadership positions.

You will not just be learning. You will be joining a growing continental network of changemakers who are shaping the future of their communities.
