WOMATE She Leads Climate Mentorship Cohort 2 (2026): Call for Applications Now Open

WOMATE She Leads Climate Mentorship Cohort 2 (2026): Call for Applications Now Open

WOMATE (Women in Climate) has opened applications for Cohort 2 of its She Leads Climate Mentorship programme, a climate leadership pathway designed for students and recent graduates who want to build real skills, connections, and confidence in the climate space.

If you have been searching for a beginner-friendly way into climate work — one that doesn't require you to already be an "expert" — this is worth your attention.

What the Programme Is About

She Leads is described as a climate leadership pathway built specifically for students and recent graduates. Rather than being a one-off webinar or a certificate-only course, it is structured as a mentorship journey that combines learning, guidance, and community. Based on the programme's call-for-applications material, participants can expect to gain:

1. Climate Knowledge – foundational understanding of climate issues and solutions

2. Leadership & Advocacy – skills to speak up and lead on climate matters in your community or field

3. Mentorship & Network – direct access to mentors and a wider network of people working in climate

4. Certificate on Completion – formal recognition once you finish the cohort

5. This combination — knowledge, leadership training, mentorship, and a certificate — makes it a solid entry point for anyone, especially young women, who wants to move from being climate-curious to climate-active.

Who Should Apply

The programme is aimed at:

•Students (undergraduate or postgraduate)

•Recent graduates

It is part of WOMATE's broader mission of developing women's leadership in the climate space, so it's a strong fit if you're a young woman interested in sustainability, environmental advocacy, climate policy, green business, or related fields — even if you're just starting out.

Application Deadline

Apply by 15 September 2026.

Note: this deadline is close, so if you're interested, don't sit on this one — start your application today.

How to Apply

Applications are submitted through WOMATE's official website. Use the link below to access the application page directly:

Why This Matters

Climate leadership pipelines like this one are important, especially in African contexts where women remain underrepresented in climate decision-making despite being disproportionately affected by climate change. A structured mentorship pathway that starts at the student/graduate level helps build a stronger bench of young women equipped to lead on climate long-term — in their communities, workplaces, and beyond.

If you know a student or recent graduate who has been looking for a way to break into climate work, share this with them — the window to apply closes 15 September 2026.
