The Program
The Bank of America Institute for Women’s Entrepreneurship at Cornell is a collaboration between Bank of America and Cornell University to deliver an online learning portal that provides women entrepreneurs with the skills, knowledge and resources to build, manage, and scale a successful business.
The new institute draws on the expertise of faculty from Cornell Law School, Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, Entrepreneurship at Cornell and eCornell, among others.
Women entrepreneurs are on the rise, starting businesses, providing employment and investing back into the communities they serve, but often lack the resources to help them advance. Today, women are launching and growing their own businesses at record rates; as of 2017, they owned an estimated 11.6 million businesses, employed nearly 9 million people and generated more than $1.7 trillion in annual revenues. The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor noted in a recent report that the challenges women entrepreneurs face imply that to sustain them over time will require support for new and established businesses, including coaching, access to capital, education and training, and other resources.
Women entrepreneurs can register for the online program, which is offered at no cost. The online curriculum was created by professors from Cornell, and covers topics such as customer discovery techniques, legal considerations, funding options, product development, digital marketing, and communications skills.
