Princeton in Africa Fellowship 2027–28 — Applications Are Open!

Princeton in Africa (PiAf) has officially opened applications for its 2027–28 Fellowship Program, and this is one to add to your opportunity list if you're a young professional or recent graduate looking to build a career on the continent while working with some of Africa's most impactful organizations.

What Is Princeton in Africa?

Princeton in Africa is a non-profit affiliate of Princeton University that places young leaders in year-long, paid fellowships with organizations working across Africa. Since 1999, the program has placed hundreds of Fellows in dozens of African countries, working in sectors such as:

•Business and Economic Development

•Education & Youth Capacity Building

•Public & Community Health

•Agricultural Development

•International Humanitarian Aid

For the 2027–28 cycle, PiAf is also expanding into a new Innovation Fellowship track, connecting emerging leaders with organizations and investors shaping Africa's growing innovation economy.

Who Is This For?

To be eligible for the 2027–28 Princeton in Africa Fellowship, applicants must:

•Be young professionals or current undergraduates graduating by June 2027

•Hold a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. from either a 4-year U.S.-accredited university or a 4-year locally-accredited African university (this includes applicants through PiAf's Nexus Program)

•Have full professional proficiency in English (Level C1+); additional proficiency in Arabic, French, Kiswahili, or Portuguese is preferred for some posts

•Be no older than 35 years of age for the duration of the fellowship year (born on or after September 1, 1992)

•Hold a passport valid until at least 6 months after the fellowship year ends

•Not be enrolled in any graduate, doctoral, or equivalent advanced academic program during the fellowship year

Country/Region eligibility: Open to applicants globally — this includes Nigerian and other African applicants who hold degrees from either U.S.-accredited institutions or accredited African universities, thanks to the Nexus Program. Nexus and general applicants use the same application portal.

•One letter of recommendation (submitted directly by your recommender through the portal)

Note: There is no application fee.

Deadline

Applications close on Monday, October 26th, 2026, at 11:59 PM Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).

(Note: EDT is 5 hours behind Nigerian time — so the deadline falls at roughly 4:59 AM WAT on Tuesday, October 27th. Don't wait until the last minute!
