What Is the Creative ChangeMakers Fellowship?
The CCMF is a fellowship organized by CivicHive, in partnership with the Open Society Foundations, designed to nurture creatives who use storytelling, media, and any artistic form to drive civic engagement, democratic participation, and social change. As Nigeria and the broader African continent grapple with shrinking civic space, rising misinformation, and governance challenges, CivicHive believes creatives are uniquely positioned to shape narratives, demand accountability, and mobilize citizens.
This year's cohort will bring together 15 emerging creatives who have shown genuine passion for civic engagement, transparency, and making governance work for the people through their creative work. Whether you're a filmmaker, writer, photographer, skit maker, spoken word artist, or digital content creator, if your work touches on social and civic issues, this fellowship is built for you.
The programme blends virtual learning, in-person creative labs, mentorship, and hands-on production, so fellows don't just learn theory but actively produce evidence-based creative work that speaks to real social issues.
Who Is It For? (Eligibility)
According to CivicHive, applicants must:
-Be Nigerian
-Be passionate about social and civic issues in Nigeria
-Show evidence of using media for mass action and awareness
-Be ready to commit to a 3-month hybrid fellowship with about 8 hours of weekly sessions
Programme Duration
The fellowship runs from September to November 2026.
