Nigeria’s democratic promise depends on the active participation of all citizens — especially women. Yet today, women remain significantly under-represented in governance and decision-making spaces across the country, including in policy formulation, public accountability, and leadership at local and regional levels.

The good news? A new initiative — the Her Voice in Governance Project — is stepping up to change this narrative. The Edge Hopebuilders for Youth and Women Initiative has officially opened applications for this transformative program targeted at empowering women across the North Central geopolitical zone of Nigeria. 

🗳️ What Is the Her Voice in Governance Project?

The Her Voice in Governance Project is an inclusive leadership and civic engagement program designed to equip women with essential skills, knowledge, and platforms to participate meaningfully in governance and public accountability. Its core belief is that inclusive governance requires informed, confident, and empowered women leaders at all levels. 

This project bridges the gap between aspiration and impact by building participants’ capacities in areas such as:

- Public policy understanding and democratic governance structures

- Civic engagement and community mobilization

- Advocacy, public speaking, and leadership effectiveness

- Peer learning and mentorship with experienced changemakers �

📌 Who Should Apply?

The program is open to women who:

- Reside in any state within North Central Nigeria

- Demonstrate leadership potential — from emerging leaders, community advocates, and grassroots organizers to professionals and activists

- Are passionate about governance, accountability, and social change

- Seek platforms to amplify women’s voices at community and local government levels
